Introduction

JEE Mains is the qualifying examination for students seeking admission to engineering courses at various colleges across India. The exam consists of two parts, Paper I and Paper-II. Paper I is compulsory for all candidates and tests their Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics proficiency.

Candidates who score above the cutoff marks in Paper I are eligible to attempt Paper II, which tests their aptitude in one of the following subjects: Architecture, Planning, or Pharmacy.

JEE Mains was introduced in 2013 as a replacement for the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE). Before that, AIEEE was the main entrance exam for engineering colleges. JEE Mains is held twice a year, in January and April.

The exam consists of two papers - Paper I and Paper-II. Paper I is for students seeking admission to B.E./B.Tech courses, while Paper II is for students seeking admission to B.Arch/B.Planning courses.
