National Energy Conservation Day- 14th December

14th of December is celebrated as the national energy conservation day all over India since 1991. The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), under the Ministry of Power, heads the celebrations every year. In the year 2001, the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) executed the Energy Conservation Act in India.

Objective

The objective behind the celebration of the National Energy Conservation Day is to drive mass awareness about the importance of energy efficiency and conservation.

What do we mean by energy conservation?

The actual meaning of energy conservation is to avoid unnecessary use of energy and to minimize energy consumption so that the various energy resources can be saved for future uses. The concept of energy conservation should be rooted in the behaviour of every human being.

Importance of Energy Conservation

Today Energy use is a major source of global warming, which has the potential of making the earth uninhabitable. Energy sources like Fossil fuels, Crude oil, Coal, natural gas etc. generate sufficient energy for the use in daily life but in the modern time, the technology prevailing world needs more and more energy day by day. This creates the fear of reducing or diminishing the natural resources, which are already on the brink of exhaustion. The only way in replacing the non-renewable energy sources is by promoting the use of renewable energy sources. The Efficient use of energy is necessary for storing energy for future use.

According to BP Statistical Review of World Energy, 2010, at the current reserve to production ratio, oil is expected to last around 45 years, gas around 65 years, coal around 200 years.

High energy consumption not only takes a toll on once pockets but also their well-being. The bright lights at our workplaces lead to the variety of problems including stress, headache, high blood pressure, fatigue and reduces work efficiency of workers. Whereas, natural daylighting does not have any glare hence it is more eye-pleasing and enhances the productivity level of workers with the benefit of reducing the energy consumption.

Government Initiatives:

The government of various countries has come up with energy or carbon taxes to decrease the unnecessary wastage of energy. Petroleum Conservation Research Association (established in 1977) and Bureau of Energy Efficiency (established in 2001) are the two major initiatives by the Government of India for better energy efficiency and conservation.

Initiatives taken by Arya Group of Colleges:

Arya Group of Colleges situated at Jaipur, the Pink City of India has taken the various initiative to not only reduce the energy conservation but also reducing the waste generated at the campus.

Initiative 1: Solar Power Plant

To give it back to the environment, AGC installed a 500kW Solar Power Plant on the rooftop of its engineering and pharmacy colleges as well as on the various hostel buildings. The solar power plant is powering the whole Main Campus with the renewable solar energy.

Initiative 2: Bio-gas Plants

AGC is spread over 25 acres of lush green campus and provide residential facility to more than 1500 students at the campus. The significant biowaste generated at the campus including the dried leaves, grass, food waste from college canteen and mess areas are utilized in making Methane by the Bio-gas plants at the campus. The methane generated by this process is used in cooking and operating heaters at the campus. Thus reducing the use of LPG Gas Cylinders and electricity.

Initiative 3: Sewage Treatment Plant

Every day 1000’s of liters of wastewater containing paper, plastic bags, glass, wood etc. is generated at various offices, schools, colleges and residential facilities, which is then directed towards open dumping yards. This solid waste results in soil pollution and contamination of underground water.

Arya College does not follow this malpractice. We treat all the wastewater generated at the campus which includes the wastewater from the kitchen, canteen, and washrooms at our In-house Sewage Treatment Plant. After the treatment process, the wastewater can be easily discharged in the sewage lines. This process not only reduces the harmful solid waste released in the environment but also helps in reducing the load on the Municipal STP and prevent clogging of sewage lines.

Initiative 4: Motion Censored Lights

In any building both residential and commercial, one of the major reason of energy wastage is the continuous use of Lights in the corridors, classrooms, bathrooms, offices even when nobody utilizing the area. Also, we see that individuals leave the area/classroom/lab without turning off the lights. Washrooms being one of the busiest areas, it is not feasible to turn off the lights every time it is not being used.

To overcome this huge energy wastage, Arya College has installed Motion Censor in the classrooms, labs, and washrooms at all of its college buildings. In the absence of students/faculties in the classrooms or labs, the lights turn off automatically after 5 minutes. In the washroom whenever an individual enters, only when the lights turn on and it gets turned off after no motion is detected for 1 min. Thus resulting in energy consumption.

Initiative 5: Use of LED Lights

The traditional lights bulbs consume more energy than LED’s and CFL’s. To promote energy conservation Arya Main Campus has installed its own LED Bulb manufacturing unit at its campus and we have replaced all the normal bulbs with LED’s at all our college buildings, mess, canteen as well as the hostel rooms, thus cutting down cost as well as preventing the waste of energy.

How can you contribute?

Any individual can save energy by deeply taking care of small things such as turning off the unnecessarily running fans, lights, submersible, heater, car-pooling or limiting the daily usage of high energy consumption devices. These are the easier and efficient way to save the unnecessary use of energy thus playing an important role in saving the environment and our mother earth.

Significant Roles of Indian Citizens in Energy Conservation

Each and every citizen of India must be aware of how to use efficient energy, how to save energy for their own future safety and many more ways. Everyone should follow the rules, regulations and policies implemented by the Government of India in order to support the energy efficiency.

Role of Sales in an Organization

In a country, as big as India, having the second largest population in the World, creating a brand value is something which cannot be considered as simple or straightforward. We all could remember the good old days when we used to go to a pharmacy or a general store and asking for Colgate, in place of asking for toothpaste or when we used to call noodles as Maggie. Every noodle was Maggie and every toothpaste was Colgate. This is what a good marketing and sales team can accomplish. Something that affects how people think or pursue.

In any organization, the role of the sales department is very pivotal in the success of the business. The distinctive and necessary role of sales is to bridge the gap between the potential customer’s needs and the products/services that the organization offers that can fulfill their needs. Now you can have the best product or service ever been available to the consumer, but without sales, your company will struggle to survive. As a business owner, if you’re not concerned with increasing sales, your company may not be as profitable as you hope it would be.

Broadly the work of sales can be split into three categories.

  1. Understand the consumer and his needs (Consumer Behaviour)
  2. Reaching out to the consumer before your competitor
  3. Feedback of the consumer

Before jumping in the field and pitching the product to the masses, the sales need to understand the needs of the consumers because the consumer and his needs not only changes from city to city or from locality to locality but also from individual to individual. After preparing a comprehensive idea, then only the product/service should be devised.

Then comes the product pitching to the consumer. It can be through visual, auditory or kinesthetic. Also, the sales need to reach the consumer before other competitors providing similar services or products and thereafter create a brand value among the masses. In the modern era, this task is both easy and challenging at the same time. As the consumer can get influenced from virtually anything like a TV Ad or a banner so making the consumer sticking to your brand is quite a difficult job to accomplish. An ideal ad or product should be like a song, which once heard get stuck in mind, and kept on repeating itself.

The work of the sales does not end here. To ensure customer retention and the continuous sale of the commodity or the service, the regular feedback of the consumer is of prime importance. Through this subsequent improvisation or modifications can be carried out as per the need of the consumer.

The roles of sales representatives in businesses are diversified, requiring multi-skilled and efficient personnel who will grow their skill-set with the ever-changing needs of the consumer and the advancement of the organization they are working for. If you are an individual, pertaining to these skills, it is highly likable that you will be preferred over other individuals, by any business or organization.

These skills need time to nourish over time and cannot be incorporated by the customary education system. This is where Arya Colleges at Jaipur is working on with its students. Not only the students of Marketing and IT streams of MBA but also other graduates akin to Engineering, Bachelor of Commerce, Arts or Science needs to be training in methods like Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and related methods, offering invaluable insights into customers and people in general. There is a dire need of such learning institutes which can help the students in developing the requisite skills, which will not only aid them in winning over their competitors in pitching sales (or any other area) but also building a rapport among client and colleagues.

At Arya Colleges jaipur, students get to observe and work at varied business houses; be it banking, consultancy, retail or marketing. Here we would like to add that Arya has Business and start-up Incubation Centres which train the students on various platforms wherein they learn digital marketing, AdWords etc. Arya also emphasizes on its students carrying a high moral character as it reflects in customer dealings. Arya Group being one of the Premiere Institutes of Rajasthan for Engineering and other graduates courses aim at preparing the students to be industry ready and having life skills, which will make them excel in both professional and personal lives. In the term of sales

“It’s not about having the right opportunities. It’s about handling the opportunities right.”

HOW SHOULD A NATIONAL HOLIDAY BE CELEBRATED?

Witnessing those rigorous period of extreme bloodshed and humiliation under the British rule, We Indians have recovered so fast that it has become a topic to research on for those foreigners. Today not only those cruel Britishers but the entire world salutes us for re-establishing our lost glory.

Not only our growth rate and GDP, there are many other sectors too which itself fills the spectator all around the world with awe. Also we Indians feel proud to showcase our culture and strength in various sectors (such as spiritual, economical, defense, technical, space, etc) on certain special days such as Republic Day (26 January) and Independence Day (15 August).

Both 15th of August and 26th of January is celebrated as a national holiday throughout India.

INDEPENDENCE DAY

True yardstick to measure the success of any Technical Colleges is its ability to place its students. Arguably education is not only the means to acquiring knowledge in a desired field but also, a vehicle to an appropriate job offer.

There are about 10,300 AICTE approved Engineering colleges in India. On the brighter side, The private colleges keep the dream of gaining a respectable technical degree alive in the students who are unable to secure a seat in the Tier one institutes like IITs and NIITs.

But on the other hand the count of engineering colleges has been springing up like mushrooms in India in the last few years. Some of these colleges exist, solely with the intention of making profit at the cost of careers of their students, without a thought to their future.

The rapid growth in the number of engineering colleges can be credited to nothing more than an ecosystem built around providing talent for the $110 billion outsourcing market and the gigantic Indian Market . Once sees nothing wrong in the growing number of Engineering colleges , as they seem to fill the gap left wide open by the dearth of Technical premium colleges and the aspiration of minds which are technically bent.

But, is it not the responsibility of these colleges which dole out Technical degrees to the aspirant that they give assistance and leave no stone unturned when it comes to providing ‘decent’ openings as the student gets into the final year at college.

My fist hand experience of working Private Engineering colleges have helped me break down the requirements of a recruiter. Essentially a combination of decent hard and soft skills is the need of the hour. Arya College is one such college which has been able to cater to the requirement of the recruiters. Churning out decent talent, which is employable and at par with the best in the Industry. The approach of Arya College is quite simple; make soft skills a part of regular day to day learning and the essence of their teaching methodology is ‘learning by doing’.

Arya College brings to life the most celebrated words of Benjamin Franklin: “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I may remember, involve me and I learn.” The mentors at Arya lay emphasis on learning, experimentation, entrepreneurship and a progressive value system, and that the degree is not the only priority for growth and a good future.

To implement this methodology the management together with their faculty works tirelessly. Their desire to evolve and establish a college which could overcome the challenges of the times and come out a winner definitely praiseworthy.

Arya College has been able to get upto 70% of its students placed. Arya College’s Training and placement cell stays connected with the industry and actively seeks their requirement, so that the in house training is stitched according to requirements of the Industry. The labs and Infrastructure are modernized to live up to the industries ever changing needs.

Not Surprisingly, Arya College has paved the path for others to follow and dreams of its student is still its priority.

Solar Energy

arya college

India is the world’s third largest producer and third largest consumer of electricity. Electric energy consumption in agriculture was recorded highest (17.89%) in 2015-16 among all countries.  Though at present, the per capita electricity consumption is low compared to many countries despite cheaper electricity tariff in India. We still have villages, which are in engulfed in darkness despite the potential of our landscape. However, with the growing population, urbanization, and industrialization the consumption is likely to grow. We need to be prepared to meet the requirements and be future ready.

Owing to it’s diverse landscape, India has surplus power generation capacity but lacks adequate infrastructure for supplying electricity to all. With its growing positioning as one of the world’s fastest growing economies, India can’t afford to stay in dark and electricity is one of the most fundamental needs of its people.

In order to cope with the lack of adequate electricity supply to all the people in the country by March 2019, the Government of India has launched a scheme called “Power for all”. This scheme aims to ensure continuous and uninterrupted electricity supply to all its villages, towns and cities and of course the industries and commercial establishments. The Indian government is rigorously creating and improving necessary infrastructure to buttress its goal.

Thus, Apart from the conventional source of energy that is dominantly fossil fuel, India is looking at unconventional sources such as hydro, solar, wind power etc. India’s renewable energy sector is amongst the world’s most active players in renewable energy utilization, especially solar and wind electricity generation.Fortunately, India is endowed with ample amount of Solar Energy and generation potential. And making use of its assets wisely is the way forward.

Rooftop solar power is a revolution that is widespread across the country and the world. Backed by favorable government policies, India is all set to be one of the largest generators of solar power in the world.

The fresh uprising in this sector has noteworthy socio-economic effects for India. Be it job creation or empowerment of people in energy-deprived regions of the country. both to regions that have little to no conventional source of power, and Distributed construction – primarily rooftop solar PV power plants – will take part in a major job in bringing solar power to developed urban centers that have grid power but not enough to hold their rapid extension.

All hands and minds need to come together as a single force to participate in the revolution to make it a success. The pledge to make India ‘darkness- free’ can sustain only if all the stakeholders participate wholeheartedly. Colleges and other educational institutions will play a significant role in this transformation, not only in creating awareness about solar energy amongst their students but also by utilizing rooftop solar power to demonstrate that they are already part of the future. The benefits to the institution, its faculty, students, and to society at large are massive which is why many of India’s most famous educational institutions have already installed large rooftop solar power plants on their rooftops.

The use of solar power has grown both in residential and commercial use. Educational institutions have caught up on solar plants as it’s an excellent investment as well as an opportunity to make its contribution towards the country. As a social responsibility project at Arya College, to has adopted solar power for their campuses and facilities, it is developing solar capacities of 1 MW or higher.

With solar power on campus and in facilities, the college is leading it’s way to renewable energy. It is setting a trend for other institutions to follow, and it is taking advantage of its vast solar resources to educate students on renewable energy.

Renewable energy is energy from sources that are naturally replenishing but flow-limited. They are virtually inexhaustible in duration but limited in the amount of energy that is available per unit of time. Given the aggravating condition of the resource, It is the call of the hour and a matter of utmost importance. It is commendable that Arya College has chosen to pay heed and responded with a solution to address the issue.

Arya College has installed solar panels on its rooftop to not only satisfy its in-house needs. Most noteworthy is that the project thus installed, is the one lead by its own Alumni and its existing students of the Electrical branch.

Not only does Arya College plan to fulfill the in-house needs but the remaining will be injected to the main Grid. Arya’s approach is futuristic and progressive.

Why Soft Skills are more important than you think

Securing a seat in a good Engineering college is an uphill task in itself. Once a student has put his foot into the gateway, his focus is to learn the nuances of Engineering. And he lays impetus on gaining the hard skills which could land him to his dream job. When a student of Engineering reaches the third year he realizes that his knowledge, projects and assignments and test scores would not really suffice. He should be able to make an impression during the interview process, to walk through the golden gates of his Dream Company. Other students with the same hard skills are a stiff competition. Now what is the differentiator and how do they make an impact??

A survey of 303 employers across the country by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Ficci) in 2010 found a majority of graduates lacked adequate “soft skills” to be employed in the industry. As per the report, 75 per cent of technical graduates and more than 85 per cent of general students are unemployable.” Not taking soft skills as an essential skill is like asking for irreparable damage. Not only does an engineering student need these skills to make a head start in the job market   but they are needed to sustain the job as well.

Soft Skills are harder to learn since they involve unlearning your instinctive reactions (which were never questioned during your entire life) and replacing them with a more deliberate approach to win in every situation. Having said that, I would like to assure each and every reader that, it is not that a student can’t be brought to pace and taught this subtle art. Yes art!  Now that explains why it is so evasive!!

Colleges know that they are answerable and their success not only depends on giving the working knowledge of engineering to its students but also, the Return on investment of the money time and energy can only sustain their position as leaders.

Every college worth it’s salt is working on making students future ready, they are not only restructuring the existing learning system , working on acquiring unprecedented industry patronage and striking strategic international alliances for a holistic development but have included applicative soft skills program in their agenda.

Being a Communications Trainer, I have been working with various corporate and colleges and

One such college I have had the pleasure to work with is Arya College, Kukas Jaipur.

Arya College realized it in time that, Automation and Artificial Intelligence will result in a great proportion of jobs relying on Soft Skills. Thanks to the cutting – edge technology, task that require hard skills are continuing to decline making Soft Skills as the key differentiator in the work place. Their determination to adapt and fit into the ever changing industrial environment is extremely practical and a need of the hour.

Arya has formed a cell, called Student Development Cell (SDC) to adapt their services to the ever changing environment. Without wasting time, Arya has overhauled the entire approach towards student development. It has a very process driven SDC, which consists of extremely experienced trainers and their method of training is experiential. Which means no soft skills can be effectively taught to a student without involving his mind and it should call for an action at his end too. Just like one can’t be taught to cycle without practically getting on a cycle. Similarly one can’t be taught the Art of communication and presentation or attending an interview successfully without practically going through that process. SDC makes sure that they simulate the entire process of interview, so that it doesn’t come as a surprise to its students.

The SDC at Arya College takes its students though the four layer of simulation, to do away with the fear of English Language, basics of the language are taught to the students in the first year. Then comes, the preparation for Verbal and Aptitude tests in the second year. The third year is dedicated to technical trainings related to the concern branch, professionals and trainers are invited from the industry for a meaningful learning of the student. While the fourth year is the year of mock group discussions, debates, interviews skills, body language.

Arya calls industry specialist for the simulation of the interview environment to give its students a flavor of variety.

No wonder their industry alliances for on campus placements are swelling by the year. The robust placement is a result of a very systematic approach towards meeting the industry need and fulfilling the commitment Arya makes to its student. Fine tuning the student’s skills for a rewarding career has adequately paid off Arya turn into an industry leader!

Computer Engineering College Programs – Software and Hardware

With the fast forwarding world of science and new technology, the interest of children is increasing more and more in engineering courses. The children from the primary school are interested in opting for computer engineering courses. Even the parents are forcing their children to opt for a computer course. There are a number of colleges in the country which are providing computer engineering courses. One needs to be very clear for the courses. The children should gather the information about the scope of the courses. The parents and children are also advised to check the fees required for the course.

The computer engineering course comprises a hardware and software features of computing. In this way it only focuses on how the systems work, but also how it will be assembled into the larger picture.

The hardware aspect of computer engineering course is working on the test, designs, modem, circuit and processors. The software aspect of the computer engineering involves the development, designs and maintenance of the computer.

The hardware part of the course will help engineers to work with the new software. They usually receive a job in high-tech manufacturing school and research laboratories.

Software engineers can also set up an internet network for any company. They develop or install new software and can also work in application design. It requires a person to have knowledge about elicitation analysis, and validation of requirements for the software.

The value of the engineer will be very high when the engineer has completed both the courses. It is necessary for the engineer to have knowledge of both the software and hardware aspect of the study.

However, computer engineers are also eligible for robotic research, which is depends on the utilization of a digital system to monitor and control the electrical systems as sensors, motors and communication.

Engineering Colleges – Tips for Using College Rankings

Nowadays, It becomes a trend in the youth to be an engineering student. With this emerging new trend, there are many new engineering colleges that have come up in the country. It is very difficult for the children as well as parents to choose the correct college.

Sometimes, children are not interested to pursue its academic career in some other courses, but the parents force them to pursue engineering only. However, it is an injustice to the children. Let them decide in which field they want to grow their career.

Now if you and your children both have made a decision to go with the engineering courses, following are some of the tips which will help you to choose the correct college or university:

  • Find the area of interest of the child, in which course they want to study, like computer, mechanical, etc.
  • Collect the information regarding the course. Find out the scope for a career in that course
  • After making a firm decision on the desired course, get the information about the fees of the study. Get the knowledge about, how much the study will cost you? And now decide it according to your economic strength
  • Don’t get admission into an unknown college or the college which is very newly established
  • If you’re facing financial issues paying the fees of a particular college, you can opt for any government college, where the fees are relatively cheaper than those in private colleges
  • Once you decide on the college where you want  to get admission, collect the form from the college
  • Take care to fill and submit the form on the submission date, and Don’t be absent due to money matters. You can make a request to the college authority regarding your money problem.
